Another beauty box ! #LookFantastic

I’m so excited to come across another suscription box! I am so rubbish at buying new products that it is a great way for me to find new favourites!

This one also offers a pay monthly option even if you choose to commit to 12 months which is much better on the pocket!

My subscription is in and I can’t wait to see whats in my first box!

Percy & Reed reassuringly firm hold Hairspray

I didn’t get to test this for very long as I had it confiscated at vfestival 😂 whoops teach me not to read the items not allowed (aerosols!) But nevermind

Luckily my friend had used it to set her hair, make up and face glitter before the burley security guard took it off me and it kept it all in place for the day!

So it seems like a good product and the smell wasn’t as offensive as some sprays I’ve used before so that’s a winner for me!

Matte Liquid Lipstick – Get the look for less!

I have seen lots of talk about how Matte Liquids Lipsticks are now the ‘in thing’ so after a good mooch around Boots I picked out 2 of my favourite shades to put them to the test!

Tester 1 : Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Cream RRP £4.99 from Boots.com

I chose ‘Shabby Chic’ and I LOVE the colour! It goes on like a lipgloss with a wand which I much prefer to an actual lipstick application – I have tried it several times now and it has lasted through food, drinks and a whole nights sleep! So this sure has some staying power and at just £4.99 it is a great price too!

Designed to suit all skin tones. Available in 6 Colours
Sleek Matte Me is a lipgloss with a smooth matte finish that glides on in one smooth application, with no need for a second coat.
The light as air texture provides you with comfortable wear for hours, that doesn’t cake, flake or dry out, ensuring long lasting colour all day.
Store in a cool dry place.

Tester 2 : Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick RRP £8.99 from Boots.com

Red shades are my favourites so I picked this as it was one of the bolder shades available in matte. Again it has a lipgloss wand application which makes it much easier to apply. This one is much more liquid and a little more messy to apply, the shorter wand also makes it a bit more fiddly (or maybe I just have fat fingers?) I can feel this one sitting on my lips more and I did lose the colour much quicker than the Sleek version.

Overall : I would choose the Sleek over the Bourjois as it lasted much longer and felt nicer on – for the price difference it is a much better buy!

Family time

Working for yourself can be seen as loving the dream. But only if your dreams mainly consist of 18 hour days and constantly beating yourself up for working too much and not spending enough time with your partner or children

So this weekend I switched off. No emails, no work and no worrying! Learning your business won’t fall apart overnight as you aren’t available for 48 hours is a valuable lesson.

So back to the beach and bar for our last night off before I catch up on my 2000 emails I will likely have…..

Elemis Hydra-Boost Day Cream – July Birchbox

I am familiar with the Elemis brand having had several in spa treatments using their products so I was of course expecting big things with this product! And it is safe to say it doesn’t disappoint🙂

I suffer really badly from dry skin on my face (and also randomly on my elbows!) and this goes on lovely, without the greasiness of a lot of other moisturisers I have used – It also smelt lovely and stayed hydrated virtually all day – very happy I have found this product!

There’s no doubt that hyaluronic acid is the star ingredient in this nourishing day cream, but it’s brimming with a whole host of other hardworking elements, too! Not only does it work to provide an instant moisture boost but marsh samphire extract and starflower oil actually help to strengthen and repair the skin’s natural moisture barrier over time – meaning your complexion will stay hydrated for longer!

Smooth a pea-sized amount over clean, dry skin every morning.

Bean Body Coffee Bean Scrub

When I opened the box with this in the smell hit me I LOVE the smell of coffee so luckily I was quite happy to have got this product in my box this month!
(If you aren’t a coffee fan this may not be the thing for you!)

The actual ‘scrub’ itself looks very much like coffee (or dirt!) but doesn’t have the gritty texture that I expected it to have it was actually a lot more powdery than I thought it would be which was a pleasant surprise

It went on well it does say to use a generous handful but to be honest a little goes a loooooong way I managed to do both arms and the top half of my body with a handful

Be warned it is messy! Between this and my red hair dye the bathroom looked like some sort of weird murder scene, but it’s a small price to pay to have super smooth skin and a bold hair colour!

I expected it also to leave loads of residue in the bath but it actually didn’t leave much at all and what was left rinsed away without too much effort unlike some that seem to stick like glue to anything and everything!

Nails Inc Polish July Birchbox

Much as I love nail art – painting my nails is definitely not my favourite thing! I have no patience and apparently also a very unsteady hand!

The sample pot we got in this months Birchbox is cute but I was struggling todays the end of the 2nd hand to get much on the brush without wiggling the brush in the pot
I also couldn’t locate this colour so I am not sure what it is called but I do love the colour!

The instructions say to do a base coat then 2 coats and a top coat – I didn’t have a base coat to hand but I don’t think it would have made much difference

It took 3 good coats to get a good coverage, it also seemed to take forever to dry (I’m not patient remember!) I’m not sure that for the price tag (RRP £15) that it is any better than the one’s I picked up in New Look last week for around 1/4 of this cost – I’ve already smudged 2 since doing it and I did allow 30 minutes before doing anything😦

But I do love the colour and the look of the finished set – Maybe a good investment for someone who can sit around and wait for it to fully dry🙂

I found them for £14 online at Boots with a good collection of colours🙂
